Beginning July 1, 2024, Virginia implemented transformative changes to its licensing procedures for onsite sewage system professionals. These updates—established through **Senate Bill 554**, signed by the Governor in March—are designed to modernize the profession, reduce bureaucratic barriers, and strengthen the state’s workforce.

Virginia’s new reciprocal framework allows onsite wastewater professionals to **significantly expedite** the licensing process by first qualifying in North Carolina.

**Onsite Wastewater Professionals (OWP)** offers an accelerated [24-Hour Installer Course](http://www.owpnc.com/installer?ref=news.owpnc.com) that equips participants with the credentials needed to obtain a North Carolina Installer license quickly.
